Pipedrive won't import your deals file?
Fix the errors Pipedrive shows when importing a spreadsheet, then import clean every week.
The currency is a symbol, not a code
Currencies are often used when importing the value of a deal and must be denoted without using their special character symbol. For example, USD and EUR would be correct but $ and € would not be.Pipedrive help centre
An ID contains letters
When importing an ID field in Pipedrive, the content of that mapped field can only be an integer. If any text is in that field – for example, “EX1234” – then that import will fail.Pipedrive help centre
A person has no name
When adding a person, you must always add a name column to your spreadsheet.Pipedrive help centre
An organization has no name
An organization name field must always be added when importing an organization.Pipedrive help centre
What Pipedrive’s importer checks
- Every person needs a name and every organization needs an organization name. Pipedrive help centre
we point out a person left without a name once you mark the column required (column ⋯ menu → Configure Field → Required Field; the Health panel’s Invalid tab lists each); the name itself is yours to fill in
- A currency must be written as a code like USD or EUR, never as a symbol like $ or €. Pipedrive help centre
DocTransform fixes this: type
In Currency, replace $ with USD and € with EUR
Or by hand: open the Currency column’s ⋯ menu → Find & Replace, find $, Replace with USD, Match entire cell → Replace all; do the same for € and EUR
- An ID field can only hold a whole number. Pipedrive help centre
Before and after
9,800 deals
Fix it by hand in Excel or Sheets
- Fill in the Name of every person, and the organization name of every organization, directly in the cells.
- Replace every $ in the Currency column with USD and every € with EUR: find and replace works.
- Remove the letters from every ID so only whole numbers are left (EX4024 becomes 4024), or empty the ID cell of a new record.
Fix it in DocTransform
- 1. Upload deals_export.csv into DocTransform.
- 2. Type and press Send. Check the steps it adds; Undo takes them all back. Or by hand: Apply the fixes: open the Currency column’s ⋯ menu → Find & Replace and replace $ with USD, then € with EUR (Match entire cell → Replace all each time). Mark Name as Required Field under Configure Field to see the empty ones; fill in the missing name and correct the ID with letters by hand: DocTransform saves no step for them.
In Currency, replace $ with USD and € with EUR
- 3. Download the cleaned file from Export, ready for Pipedrive’s importer.

- Type the change in one sentence, in your own words.
- Wait about 5 seconds while the steps are written. Stop cancels.
- Check each step and how many cells or rows it changes.
- The file is clean. Not what you meant? One Undo takes it all back.
Save this fix once, then rerun it on next week’s export with one click.
Questions
- Will DocTransform fix an ID like EX4024 for me?
- No — Pipedrive wants a whole number, and DocTransform saves no step to rewrite an ID. Remove the letters by hand, or leave the ID empty for a new record.
- Will DocTransform fill in a missing name?
- No — it points out the empty cells once you mark Name required, and you type the name.
- Can I reuse this fix next time I export my deals?
- Yes — save it once in DocTransform and rerun it on next week’s export.
