Salesforce to HubSpot: map the columns, import the CSV

Move leads from Salesforce to HubSpot: the export CSV columns matched to HubSpot’s import headers, with phone numbers written the way HubSpot reads them.

How the columns map

Salesforce columnHubSpot columnWhat changes
First NameFirst name

HubSpot writes the second word of this header with a lowercase n, and it is one of the two names a basic contact carries.

Or by hand

open the First Name column’s ⋯ menu → Edit column… → click the name at the top of the drawer, rename it to First name and press Enter

Last NameLast name

Last name takes the same lowercase n, so the Salesforce header has to change before HubSpot matches it to its property.

Or by hand

open the Last Name column’s ⋯ menu → Edit column… → click the name at the top of the drawer, rename it to Last name and press Enter

EmailEmail

Both systems use the same header, so the Email column stays as it is.

PhonePhone number

HubSpot writes a number by country only when it reads +[country code][number], so every Salesforce phone, whatever its punctuation, has to be rewritten that way.

Or by hand

open Health → Phone formats → Convert 5 (the button shows how many numbers it writes); each readable number is written as +[country code][number], and one it cannot read stays as written

PhonePhone number

The header changes too: HubSpot’s property is Phone number.

Or by hand

open the Phone column’s ⋯ menu → Edit column… → click the name at the top of the drawer, rename it to Phone number and press Enter

MobileMobile phone number

HubSpot’s property is Mobile phone number; these cells already carry the country code, so only the header changes.

Or by hand

open the Mobile column’s ⋯ menu → Edit column… → click the name at the top of the drawer, rename it to Mobile phone number and press Enter

    Do it in DocTransform

By hand: 6 stepsDocTransform: 1 sentence

    1. 1. Upload salesforce_leads.csv into DocTransform.
    2. 2. Type

Write Phone as E.164, then rename First Name to First name, Last Name to Last name, Phone to Phone number and Mobile to Mobile phone number

and press Send. Check the steps it adds; Undo takes them all back.
      Or by hand

Apply the fixes: open Health → Phone formats → Convert 5 (the button shows how many numbers it writes). Then rename the four headers, one by one: open the column’s ⋯ menu → Edit column… → click the name at the top of the drawer, rename it and press Enter. First Name becomes First name, Last Name becomes Last name, Phone becomes Phone number and Mobile becomes Mobile phone number.

    3. 3. Download the cleaned file from Export, ready for HubSpot’s contact import.

Save these steps once, then rerun them on your next Salesforce export with one click.

Do it by hand in Excel or Sheets

    1. Open salesforce_leads.csv in Excel: choose Data → From Text/CSV, set File Origin to 65001: Unicode (UTF-8) and click Load.
    2. Select the Phone column, press Ctrl+1, choose Text and click OK, so Excel keeps the + sign.
    3. With the column still selected, press Ctrl+H, type a space in Find what, leave Replace with empty and click Replace All.
    4. Repeat that for each of ( ) - and . so only the + and the digits are left in every Phone cell.
    5. In row 1, change First Name to First name, Last Name to Last name, Phone to Phone number and Mobile to Mobile phone number. Leave Email as it is.
    6. Choose File → Save As, pick CSV UTF-8 (Comma delimited) (*.csv) and click Save.

    Questions

Can HubSpot import the Salesforce export as it is?
Not cleanly. HubSpot matches each header to one of its properties, so First Name, Last Name, Phone and Mobile need HubSpot’s own spelling, and phone numbers should read +[country code][number].
Do Lead Status and Lead Source move across by themselves?
No — DocTransform saves no step for them. HubSpot’s dropdown properties, like Lifecycle stage, accept only values that match their options, so check them in HubSpot’s own import screen.
Do I rename the columns again for the next batch?
No — save the steps once in DocTransform and rerun them on your next Salesforce export.
