values being ignored: fix the dates in your Zoho CRM CSV

Zoho CRM leaves out a date in your CSV when it does not match the date format you picked. Rewrite the dates as YYYY-MM-DD, in your browser.

What Zoho CRM found wrong

values being ignored

Zoho CRM reads every date in a Date field in the one format you select when you map the column. A date written another way, such as 28/10/2023 when you selected month first, has no 28th month, so Zoho CRM ignores the value: the record is still imported, but the Closing Date stays empty. A date like 03/11/2023 is worse: with month first, it can be read as March 11 without a word.

    Do it in DocTransform

By hand: 5 stepsDocTransform: 1 sentence

    1. 1. Upload zoho_deals.csv into DocTransform.
    2. 2. Type

      Write Closing Date as YYYY-MM-DD

and press Send. Check the step it adds; Undo takes it back.
      Or by hand

Apply the fix: open the Closing Date column’s ⋯ menu → Format dates… → input DD/MM/YYYY, output YYYY-MM-DD → Save Rule. If your file writes the month first, pick MM/DD/YYYY as the input.

    3. 3. Download the cleaned file as CSV with Download, ready for Zoho CRM’s import.

Save this step once, then rerun it on your next Zoho CRM export with one click.

Do it by hand in Excel or Sheets

    1. Open zoho_deals.csv in Excel: choose Data → From Text/CSV, set File Origin to 65001: Unicode (UTF-8) and click Load.
    2. Select the Closing Date column, press Ctrl+1, choose Custom, type yyyy-mm-dd and click OK.
    3. If a date does not change, Excel is holding it as text: select the column, choose Data → Text to Columns, click Next twice, pick Date: DMY under Column data format, click Finish, then repeat the step above.
    4. Choose File → Save As, pick CSV UTF-8 (Comma delimited) (*.csv) and click Save.
    5. In Zoho CRM’s import, hover over the Closing Date row when you map it, open the format picklist that appears, pick the year-first format that matches how the dates now read, then submit the import again.

    Questions

Which date format do I select in Zoho CRM once the file is fixed?
The one that matches how the dates now read. Zoho CRM asks for the format when you map a Date field, so pick the year-first one before you submit the import.
Does the date tool on this page upload my file?
No — it reads and rewrites the file in your browser tab, and nothing is sent anywhere.
Do I fix Date & Time columns the same way?
Mostly: Zoho CRM also asks for a format on Date & Time fields, so write the date part year first and choose the matching format when you map the column.
